Ministry sees Russia’s unemployment within 6% in 2016
TOGLIATTI, Samara Region, Jan 22 (PRIME) -- The Labor and Social Protection Ministry expects Russia’s unemployment within 6% in 2016, while the number of officially registered unemployed people may rise to 1.2 million, Minister Maxim Topilin told reporters Friday.
“We forecast that unemployment will be higher this year than we expected previously. I think it will be within 6% closer to mid-year and by the year-end. It is difficult to say now,” he said.
The number of officially registered unemployed people will also grow. “I think it will be about 1.2 million people. For now, the number has stayed under 1 million for about a year. But the increase will happen anyway, as production is changing and being reformed, we cannot escape that,” he said.
